Lieutenant General Said prefaced the report outcome by detailing the situation in Kabul at the time of the attack, stressing it came just days after an attack on allied forces resulting in 13 US casualties and was just a day out from America’s full evacuation from Afghanistan. Overall, the report remains classified and has been referred to the chain of command for further assessment. An investigation into a United States airstrike in Kabul which ultimately killed 10 civilians has found the military committed no criminal negligence or violation of the law in launching the attack but did identify errors in its execution.Ī review of the steps which lead to the deadly August 29 strike was ordered and carried out by Air Force Inspector General Lieutenant General Sami Said who divulged the findings in part in a press briefing on Wednesday.
